CrySnap: Baby Cry Translator

CrySnap is a parenting companion for parents of newborns. When your baby cries, the app listens for eight seconds to confirm the crying (using Apple's on-device sound analysis) and then gives you timed soothing steps built from your baby's age, last feed and time awake. It does not try to read the cause of a cry from the sound. Three AI guides (a pediatric nurse, a sleep coach and a lactation guide) answer questions, soothing sounds play on the device, and you can create a two-week summary of your own logs for your pediatrician. A Voice Mode lets you ask a question by speaking. CrySnap is a parenting companion. It is not a medical device, not a diagnostic tool, and not a substitute for professional medical advice.
The following data is stored locally on your device only using Apple's SwiftData framework and never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it:
No account is required. No user profile, name, email, or identifying information is collected by CrySnap.
The three guides in CrySnap (Sarah, Emma and Linda) are AI. Their answers are written by a third-party AI service, not by CrySnap and not by a person. Nothing is sent to an AI service until you allow it. Right after you subscribe — and again before your first question if you skipped it — the app shows a screen that lists what will be sent and who receives it, and asks you to choose “Allow AI answers” or “Not now”. You can withdraw that permission at any time in Settings → AI answers; after that the app sends nothing to any AI service.

Not sent: audio recordings, photos, contacts, email address, location, device or advertising identifiers. The baby's name is not part of the profile context, and the app removes the saved name from outgoing text on your device. Text you type yourself may still contain personal details, so please don't include anything you don't want to share.
Who receives it. Which service answers depends on your App Store country and device region, not on the app language:
How it is protected. Requests travel encrypted (HTTPS). Our proxies pass them on and do not store their content. No provider key is stored in the app. We share this data only to get an answer to your question, and only with providers whose terms require them to keep it confidential and secure — protection equal to that described in this policy. The data is not used by us for advertising, profiling or to identify you, and it is not sold.
Voice Mode converts a spoken question to text with Apple Speech Recognition — on the device when the device and language support it, otherwise by Apple under Apple's privacy terms. Only the resulting text is sent on, and only as part of an AI request described above. Voice Mode replies are spoken on the device with Apple AVSpeechSynthesizer.
Subscription purchases are managed by RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service. RevenueCat receives:

CrySnap does not use any third-party analytics, advertising networks, or tracking SDKs.
Only Apple's built-in crash diagnostics are collected if you have them enabled. You can disable these in your device Settings under Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
Reminders are switched on individually in Settings. They are local notifications scheduled on your device; we do not use a push provider, and no notification content is generated on a server.
CrySnap is rated 4+ and is intended for use by adult parents and caregivers. The app briefly records sound to confirm crying, which may capture an infant's voice — that audio is checked on the device, deleted immediately, and never uploaded. We do not knowingly collect any data about a child that is uploaded off-device. If you have concerns about your baby's data, deleting the CrySnap app permanently removes everything from your device.

CrySnap does not identify the cause of a cry and does not diagnose colic, reflux, GERD or any other medical condition; its soothing plans are built from your baby's age and routine. The chat personas (Pediatric Nurse, Sleep Coach, Lactation Consultant) provide general parenting guidance grounded in published clinical guidelines (AAP, CDC, La Leche League) and explicitly redirect any diagnostic questions to your pediatrician.

CrySnap suggestions are not a substitute for a pediatrician's examination. For persistent crying that does not respond to feeding, changing, or soothing for over an hour; for any change in feeding, sleeping, or behaviour patterns that concerns you; or for any medical question — please contact your pediatrician or a registered children's nurse. The chat personas inside the app will say the same thing.
All cry scans, chat messages, baby profile, and preferences are stored locally on your device. Deleting the CrySnap app permanently removes this data from your device. No server-side record of your scans, chats, or baby data exists to be deleted. Your RevenueCat anonymous ID resets when you reinstall.
You can also clear your team chat memory at any time via Settings → Reset Team Memory without deleting the app.
CrySnap complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for users in the European Economic Area, the UK Data Protection Act for UK users, and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) for California residents. Because we do not collect personally identifying information, most data-subject rights (access, rectification, portability, deletion) are satisfied automatically — you already hold full control over your data on your device.
The emergency number shown in the app is chosen from your device's region. The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and Postpartum Support International are shown only in the US and Canada.
If we update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes will also be surfaced inside the app.
