PestSnap is a photo-based identification reference tool for adult US homeowners and renters (18+). It helps you identify pests, insect bites, evidence of infestation, and parasites on pets, and returns a traffic-light verdict (harmless · monitor · infestation risk) alongside suggested next steps such as DIY remedies or finding a licensed exterminator. PestSnap is not a medical device, not a veterinary tool, and not a pest control service.
The following data is stored locally on your device (Apple's SwiftData framework and app files) until you delete it:
No account is required. PestSnap does not collect your name, email, contacts, or location.
Sending data for scans and chat requires your consent (shown in the app and reviewable in Settings → "AI & your data"). You can withdraw consent there at any time; withdrawal stops both scan and chat sending. Requests travel through our Cloudflare Worker proxy (pestsnap-api.love8ko.workers.dev), which adds the upstream API keys so that no upstream credentials exist in the app bundle. Our proxy does not log or store your photos or messages.
Chat is not local-only: the text of your chat messages leaves your device when you use the Expert chat. Please do not include personal information in chat messages or notes.
Payments are handled by Apple. Subscription status is managed by RevenueCat (United States), which receives:

PestSnap uses PostHog (United States) for product analytics, starting at app launch. Events are tied to a random install ID and a session ID, and include locale, timezone, app version, UTM / deep-link attribution parameters, and scan outcome fields (species name, verdict, confidence, scan mode) and error text. PostHog never receives your photos or chat text.
RevenueCat may forward subscription lifecycle events (purchase, renewal, cancellation, expiration, billing issue) to PostHog. These do not include photos, chat messages, or payment card details.
We do not use analytics for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking. Apple's built-in crash diagnostics are collected only if you have them enabled in your device Settings under Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
The Exterminator Finder does not call any third-party data service; it only opens Apple Maps or the Yelp app or website through links, where the provider's own privacy policy applies.
PestSnap is for adults 18 and over (App Store age rating 18+; consent requires you to be 18+). It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect children's personal information directly from children. A parent or guardian may scan a photo of their child's skin, and only a parent or guardian may do so; such photos are handled like any other scan (see Section 3). If you believe a child has used the app, please contact us.
PestSnap is an identification reference tool. It is NOT a medical device, NOT a diagnostic tool, and NOT veterinary software.
The Bite and Pet scan features provide identification assistance consistent with documented bite or parasite patterns. They do not diagnose disease, infection, Lyme, allergic reaction, or any other medical or veterinary condition.
For severe reactions — including but not limited to difficulty breathing, facial or throat swelling, fever, or expanding redness — call 911 or Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222 immediately. For pet emergencies, contact Pet Poison Helpline at 1-855-764-7661 or a licensed veterinarian.
AI identification is not 100% accurate. When in doubt, consult a licensed medical, veterinary, or pest control professional.
PestSnap identifications are not a substitute for a licensed pest control inspection. For suspected termite activity, bed bug infestation, or any other serious pest issue, always consult a licensed professional exterminator. The Exterminator Finder is a convenience link to maps and listings; it is not an endorsement of any specific provider.
On-device data can be deleted in the app: Settings → "AI & your data" → "Delete my data" deletes your scans, photos, cases and chats from your iPhone (your subscription is not affected). Deleting the app also removes this data from your device.
For data held by PostHog or RevenueCat linked to your install ID, contact us at the support email below and we will act on your request; please tell us your device and app version. Data already processed by OpenAI or DeepSeek is subject to their retention as described in Section 3.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or California, you may have rights of access, rectification, deletion, portability, and to withdraw consent, and to object to processing. You can withdraw consent in Settings and delete on-device data in the app; for other requests, contact us at the email below. Note that DeepSeek processes chat data in China, and PostHog and RevenueCat process data in the United States.
If we update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes will also be surfaced inside the app.

PestSnap is an independent identification reference tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Terminix, Orkin, Bulwark, Yelp, or any other brand referenced in the app. All brand and business names are used nominatively to describe the category or listing being referenced.
