How does BumpCheck work?
Scan a product barcode, photograph an ingredient label, or paste a list of ingredients. BumpCheck cross-references what you scan against publicly available research from CDC, ACOG, NIH LactMed, NIH RxNav, EWG Skin Deep, CIR, and FDA, and returns educational information tailored to your pregnancy or breastfeeding stage.
Is BumpCheck medical advice?
No. BumpCheck is an educational reference app for informational purposes only. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult your OB-GYN or another qualified healthcare provider before making decisions about products, medications, supplements, or cosmetics during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Where does the information come from?
BumpCheck references these publicly available sources:
Is my health data private?
Yes. All scan history, favorites, and stage preferences are stored locally on your device. Nothing about your pregnancy, breastfeeding status, or scans is ever sent to our servers or shared with third parties. No account is required. See our Privacy Policy for details.
What are the trimester-aware stages?
BumpCheck adjusts the educational reference for six stages: trying to conceive (TTC), first trimester (T1), second trimester (T2), third trimester (T3), postpartum, and breastfeeding. You set your stage in Settings and can change it anytime.
How much does BumpCheck cost?
BumpCheck offers three options:
Prices may vary by region.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → BumpCheck on your device and tap Cancel Subscription. You can also manage subscriptions from the Settings screen inside BumpCheck.
What iOS version is required?
BumpCheck requires iOS 17.0 or later.
What if I get an error when scanning?
Scanning requires an internet connection for ingredient extraction and reference lookup. If you see a network error, check your connection and try again. If you are in a region with restricted access to OpenAI or NIH services, BumpCheck falls back to its built-in reference database where possible.
Does BumpCheck work in my country?
BumpCheck is available worldwide. The ingredient reference is based on U.S. agencies (CDC, ACOG, NIH, FDA) plus international product databases (Open Beauty Facts, Open Food Facts). Local regulations and product formulations may vary — always check with a local healthcare provider.
Can I export my scan history?
Scan history is stored locally for private reference. Share and export features are planned for a future release.
