Hepatica also follows Apple's standard EULA, the Licensed Application End User License Agreement, in accordance with App Store policy. Where these Terms are silent on a topic, Apple's standard EULA applies.
Subject to these Terms and Apple's standard EULA, the developer grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use.
Hepatica is an educational Health & Fitness companion. It is not a medical device, not a diagnostic tool, and not a substitute for professional medical advice, examination, diagnosis, or treatment.
Hepatica does not diagnose NAFLD, MASLD, NASH/MASH, fibrosis, cirrhosis, or any condition; does not prescribe, recommend or change any medicine or dose; and does not stage liver disease. The FIB-4 score it calculates is a screening index, not a diagnosis or a fibrosis stage. Lab explanations, meal feedback and answers from the AI liver guide ("Coach") are educational information. See the full Medical Disclaimer.
You must be at least 12 years old to use the App (the App's App Store age rating), and old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction, or have a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf and supervises your use. The App is intended for adults managing their own liver health.
Hepatica Plus is offered as the following auto-renewing subscriptions, processed through Apple's App Store:
Both plans unlock the same Hepatica Plus features. Prices vary by storefront and are localized by Apple; the exact local price, billing period and any trial terms are shown on the in-App paywall and in Apple's purchase sheet before you confirm, and those displayed terms control.
Weekly may include a 7-day free trial as an Apple introductory offer. The paywall shows the trial only when the App Store returns the offer and confirms that you are eligible; availability and eligibility are decided by Apple. When a free trial applies, you are not charged during the trial, and the displayed weekly price is charged when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. If you are not eligible or no introductory offer is available, Weekly is charged at purchase confirmation. Annual has no free trial and is charged at purchase confirmation.
All payments are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. The developer does not directly issue refunds.
If you reinstall the App or use a new device, use Restore on the paywall or Restore purchases in Settings → Subscription while signed in to the same Apple account.
The App is an educational wellness companion. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition, and use of the App does not establish a doctor-patient relationship. Do not use the App as the sole basis for a medical decision. Always consult your doctor or hepatologist. See the full Medical Disclaimer.
Reading lab reports from a photo or PDF, meal photo feedback and Coach answers are AI features. Before you use the App, you are asked to consent to your Coach messages, lab report scans and meal photos being sent for AI processing. Content is sent only when you start an analysis or send a question. You can withdraw consent at any time with the switch "Send photos and messages for AI analysis" in Settings → Data & privacy; with it off, nothing is sent to any AI service and you can keep using the App as a manual tracker.
For a mainland China Apple storefront or device region, AI requests are processed by Qwen through our Alibaba Cloud service in mainland China and are not redirected elsewhere if they fail. Other regions use our Cloudflare service with OpenAI, DeepSeek and TypeSafe. Details are in the Privacy Policy §2.
AI output is educational, may be incomplete or incorrect, and must not be treated as medical advice. Values read from a report must be checked by you before they are saved. Coach answers show the sources they were based on when sources are used; a source being shown does not guarantee that an answer is accurate or complete. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness or fitness for any particular purpose of AI-generated content.
You agree not to:
Lab values, report photos and PDFs, meal photos, check-ins, medicine and alcohol records, symptom notes, and Coach messages you create in the App ("User Content") remain yours. You grant the developer a limited, royalty-free license to process User Content only as needed to provide the App's features, for example sending a meal photo, a lab report page or a question to the AI services described in the Privacy Policy §2 after your consent. Those service providers process submitted content under their own service terms and may retain it according to their policies (see Privacy Policy §9). Your records are stored on your device; the developer claims no ownership of User Content. Share only information needed for the feature you use.
The App, the Hepatica name, the logo, the design, and all associated graphics and copy are the intellectual property of Valerii Loveiko. Third-party guideline, public-health and research material referenced in the App's source collection remains the property of its respective publishers; it appears as short excerpts with attribution for educational reference.
The App relies on third-party services described in the Privacy Policy §2: outside mainland China, Cloudflare, OpenAI, DeepSeek and TypeSafe; in mainland China, Alibaba Cloud (Function Compute and Model Studio, with Qwen models); and, everywhere, Apple (App Store, StoreKit and local notifications) and RevenueCat (subscription status). Their respective terms apply to their portion of the service. References to brand-name medicines, products, or organisations are for identification only — Hepatica is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Madrigal Pharmaceuticals, Novo Nordisk, Eli Lilly, any other manufacturer, any clinical society, or any clinic. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
The developer may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App, any feature, or any subscription plan at any time. AI features need an internet connection and may be temporarily unavailable or limited, for example by a weekly limit on photo analyses. Material changes to subscription terms will be communicated through the App or by an updated Effective Date on this page.
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, or uninterrupted availability. Lab explanations, values read from reports, FIB-4 calculations, meal scores and Coach answers are educational and may be inaccurate. FIB-4 is a screening index calculated from the values you save, not a clinical assessment.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, treatment outcomes, side effects, or other intangible losses arising out of or related to your use of the App, including any decision you make based on content shown in the App. The developer's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the App is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the App in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 50.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the developer from any claim, damage, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the App or your violation of these Terms.
The developer may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms. You may terminate your use at any time by uninstalling the App; subscription cancellation is handled by Apple as described in section 4. Surviving sections include §5 (Educational Use), §9 (Intellectual Property), §12 (Disclaimers), §13 (Limitation of Liability), and §14 (Indemnification).
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the developer's place of residence, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, unless a non-waivable consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction grants you the right to bring proceedings locally.
We may update these Terms occasionally. The current version is posted on this page with an updated Effective Date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
