JewelSnap: Jewelry Identifier ("the App") is developed and published by Valeriy Loveiko. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting your personal information. This privacy policy explains in detail how the App collects, uses, stores, and protects your data.
Summary: The App processes your jewelry photos using secure AI services to provide identification and appraisal. Photos are sent to our AI provider for analysis and are not stored on their servers after processing. All scan results and your collection data are stored locally on your device. We do not sell, share, or monetize your personal data in any way.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Photos and Camera Data
When you use JewelSnap to scan jewelry, the App accesses your device's camera or photo library to capture or select images. These photos are:
- Used solely for the purpose of identifying and appraising the jewelry item depicted
- Sent securely (via encrypted HTTPS connection) to our AI analysis provider for processing
- Stored locally on your device as part of your jewelry collection
- Never shared with other users, advertisers, or any third party beyond the AI analysis service
The App does not access photos beyond what you explicitly select or capture within the App. We do not scan your entire photo library, and we do not collect EXIF metadata (location, date, camera model) from your photos.
1.2 Jewelry Analysis Data
When you scan a piece of jewelry, the AI analysis generates the following information:
- Jewelry type (ring, necklace, bracelet, brooch, earrings, etc.)
- Identified materials (gold, silver, platinum, etc.) and their estimated purity
- Stone identification (diamond, ruby, sapphire, emerald, etc.)
- Era and style classification (Art Deco, Victorian, Contemporary, etc.)
- Estimated market value range
- Authenticity assessment and confidence level
This analysis data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to any external server after initial generation.
1.3 Chat Conversations
The App includes an AI consultation feature where you can ask follow-up questions about your scanned jewelry. Messages you send in the chat are transmitted to our AI provider to generate responses. Chat history is stored locally on your device for the duration of your session. We do not retain chat logs on any external server.
1.4 Subscription Information
JewelSnap offers optional premium subscriptions managed entirely through Apple's App Store and StoreKit framework. All payment processing, billing, and subscription management are handled by Apple. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information, credit card numbers, or billing addresses. For details on how Apple handles your payment data, please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy.
1.5 Information We Do NOT Collect
To be explicit, JewelSnap does not collect:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information
- Your physical location or GPS coordinates
- Device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV) for advertising or tracking purposes
- Browsing history or activity outside the App
- Contacts, calendar, or any other personal data from your device
- Health, fitness, or biometric data
2. How We Use Your Information
The information processed by the App is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- Jewelry Identification: Your photos are analyzed by our AI service to identify the type, materials, stones, and style of your jewelry
- Value Estimation: Based on the visual analysis, the App provides an estimated market value range for your jewelry
- Authenticity Assessment: The AI evaluates visible characteristics to provide an authenticity opinion and confidence score
- Collection Management: Your scan results are saved locally so you can build and manage a personal jewelry collection portfolio
- AI Consultation: Your chat messages are processed to provide expert-level follow-up advice about your scanned items
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, marketing, or any purpose unrelated to the core functionality of the App.
3. Third-Party Services
3.1 AI Analysis Provider
JewelSnap uses a third-party AI service to analyze jewelry photos and generate identification results. When you initiate a scan or send a chat message:
- Your photo (for scans) or text message (for chat) is transmitted via encrypted HTTPS to the AI provider's API
- The AI provider processes the data and returns analysis results
- According to the AI provider's data usage policies, API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models and are not retained after processing
- No personal identifiers are sent alongside your photos — only the image data necessary for analysis
3.2 Apple Services
The App integrates with Apple's standard services:
- StoreKit 2: For subscription management and payment processing. All financial data is handled by Apple.
- iCloud Backup: If you have iCloud backup enabled on your device, your local App data (including saved scans) may be included in your device backup. This is controlled by your device settings, not by the App.
3.3 No Analytics or Advertising SDKs
JewelSnap does not integrate any analytics platforms (such as Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, or Amplitude), advertising networks, crash reporting services, or any other third-party tracking tools. The App contains no advertisements of any kind.
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 Local Storage
All jewelry scan results, photos, and collection data are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data:
- Resides only on your device's local storage
- Is protected by your device's built-in security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, device encryption)
- Is not accessible to the developer, Valeriy Loveiko, or any third party
- Can be deleted at any time by removing individual scans within the App or by deleting the App entirely
4.2 Network Security
All network communications between the App and our AI analysis provider are encrypted using industry-standard TLS/HTTPS protocols. No data is transmitted in plain text.
4.3 API Key Security
API credentials used by the App to communicate with AI services are securely embedded within the application binary using encryption. They are not stored in plain text and are not accessible through standard reverse engineering methods.
5. Data Retention
- Local data (scans, photos, collection): Retained on your device until you delete individual items or uninstall the App
- AI analysis requests: Not retained by the AI provider after processing is complete (typically within seconds)
- Chat messages: Stored locally for the duration of your chat session. Not retained on external servers.
- Subscription data: Managed entirely by Apple per their data retention policies
6. Your Rights and Choices
6.1 Camera and Photo Access
You can revoke the App's access to your camera or photo library at any time through your device's Settings → JewelSnap. Without camera access, you can still view your existing collection but will not be able to perform new scans.
6.2 Deleting Your Data
Since all data is stored locally on your device:
- Delete individual scans by swiping or using the delete option within the Collection screen
- Delete all data by uninstalling the App from your device
- No request to the developer is necessary, as we do not hold any of your data on external servers
6.3 Subscription Management
You can manage, cancel, or modify your subscription at any time through your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, or through the App Store.
7. Children's Privacy
JewelSnap is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the App does not require account creation and does not collect identifying information, it cannot determine user age. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
8. International Users and Compliance
JewelSnap is available worldwide. We are committed to complying with applicable data protection regulations:
- GDPR (European Union): The App collects minimal data, does not process personal data for profiling, and does not transfer personal data to third countries for storage. Users can exercise their right to erasure by deleting the App.
- CCPA (California, USA): We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. California residents have the right to know what data is collected — this policy provides that disclosure.
- PIPEDA (Canada): The App's data practices comply with Canadian privacy principles by collecting only what is necessary, obtaining consent through system permission prompts, and ensuring data security.
- LGPD (Brazil): Processing is based on user consent (camera/photo permissions) and is limited to providing the App's core service.
- Other jurisdictions: The App's privacy-by-design approach — minimal data collection, local storage, no tracking — is designed to comply with privacy regulations worldwide.
9. Disclaimer
JewelSnap provides AI-generated jewelry identification, appraisal estimates, and authenticity assessments for informational and entertainment purposes only. Results should not be considered as certified professional appraisals, authentication certificates, or financial advice. For high-value items or important decisions (insurance, sale, purchase), always consult a certified gemologist or licensed appraiser. The developer assumes no liability for decisions made based on the App's output.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's functionality or applicable regulations. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
