JewelSnap uses advanced AI vision technology trained to recognize thousands of jewelry types, materials, and gemstones. Accuracy depends on photo quality, lighting, and the complexity of the piece. For common jewelry types (gold rings, diamond solitaires, pearl necklaces), accuracy is very high. For unusual, antique, or highly specialized pieces, the AI provides its best assessment with a confidence level indicator. Always consult a certified appraiser for high-stakes decisions.
The App provides an authenticity assessment based on visual characteristics — including craftsmanship quality, material appearance, stone characteristics, hallmark visibility, and stylistic consistency. It assigns a confidence level (High / Medium / Low) to its verdict. However, visual analysis alone cannot replace laboratory testing (acid tests, thermal conductivity, spectroscopy). For definitive authentication, visit a certified gemologist.
The AI estimates a market value range based on the identified materials, stones, size, era, condition, and current market trends for similar pieces. The estimate represents a typical retail or secondary market range — not an insurance value or liquidation value. Actual value can vary significantly based on factors not visible in photos (weight, stone quality grades, provenance, maker marks on the back, etc.).
The premium stolen property check compares your jewelry's characteristics against known stolen property databases including the Art Loss Register, Interpol's Works of Art database, and FBI's National Stolen Art File. A "No Match Found" result means no similar items were found in these databases. This is an informational tool and does not constitute a legal clearance certificate.
The scanning and AI chat features require an internet connection, as the AI analysis is performed by a cloud-based service. However, your saved collection and all previously scanned items are available offline. You can browse your collection, view past scan results, and see your portfolio value without any internet connection.
JewelSnap can identify virtually any type of jewelry including:
For best results, scan one piece of jewelry at a time. The AI focuses on a single item per photo to provide the most accurate identification. If multiple items are in the frame, the AI will typically identify the most prominent piece.
The AI jewelry expert can communicate in most major languages. Simply write your question in your preferred language, and the expert will respond in the same language. Supported languages include English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and many more.
All your scans, photos, and collection data are stored locally on your device. Nothing is stored on external servers. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.
The Collection screen shows all your saved jewelry scans in a grid layout. At the top, you'll see your total portfolio value — the sum of all estimated values across your collection. Tap any item to view its full analysis details.
To remove an item from your collection, open the item's detail view and tap the delete option. Deleted items cannot be recovered — you would need to re-scan the piece.
From any scan's detail view, tap the chat icon to start a conversation with the AI jewelry expert. You can ask about:
Go to your device's Settings → JewelSnap and ensure Camera access is enabled. If it was previously denied, toggle it on and reopen the App.
