Medical Disclaimer
Effective date: May 14, 2026
Salvora provides educational information only. The App is not a medical device, is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition, and does not establish a doctor-patient relationship.
1. Educational Purpose
Salvora is a wellness companion that:
- Lets the user log photos of eczema-affected skin over time
- Optionally generates a short text description of a photo via a third-party AI vision provider — only at the user's explicit request and after consent
- Records a Patient-Oriented Eczema Measure (POEM) inspired 0–28 score that the user enters on a slider
- Surfaces educational information sourced from published medical guidelines (American Academy of Dermatology, National Eczema Association, Mayo Clinic, American Academy of Family Physicians, and peer-reviewed PubMed extracts)
- Provides a personal log for triggers and treatments the user has chosen on their own initiative or with their physician
- Exports a doctor-shareable PDF of the user's trend data on request
None of this constitutes medical advice.
2. Not a Diagnosis
AI photo descriptions, POEM scores, trigger correlations, and AI Coach responses are algorithmic approximations and self-reports, not clinical assessments. Photo descriptions describe what is visible in a single smartphone image and do not assign severity. Variations in lighting, camera angle, hydration, and recent skin care can substantially change appearance from one photo to the next. Do not interpret a Salvora output as confirmation or rejection of a diagnosis.
3. Always Consult a Dermatologist
Before starting, changing, or stopping any treatment — including over-the-counter moisturizers and antihistamines, prescription topical corticosteroids (TCS), topical calcineurin inhibitors (TCI), oral immunosuppressants, JAK inhibitors, or biologics such as dupilumab — consult a dermatologist or other qualified healthcare provider. Topical steroid withdrawal (TSW), red-skin syndrome, eczema herpeticum, and bacterial superinfection are serious clinical entities that require professional evaluation and treatment.
4. Prescription Drug Information
References inside the App to prescription drugs (TCS classes, TCI, oral immunosuppressants, JAK inhibitors, biologics) are educational and based on published guideline summaries and peer-reviewed literature. Salvora does not prescribe, supply, or recommend any prescription drug, dose, or formulation. Many of these medications carry potential side effects which must be discussed with a qualified prescriber.
5. Drug Doses
The App may describe published guideline classes (e.g., "TCS class 1 — super-potent" or "TCS class 7 — low-potency") for educational reference only. The App does not recommend any individual dose, frequency, or duration. Personal dosing must be determined by a qualified healthcare provider based on your individual context.
6. Photographs Are Not Medical Imaging
Salvora photos are personal smartphone photos used for visual progress tracking. They are not clinical photography, do not have dermoscopic resolution, and cannot be used to evaluate skin conditions that require a dermatologist (eczema herpeticum, bacterial superinfection, scabies, contact dermatitis differential, lichen planus, psoriasis differential, or any suspicious mole or lesion).
7. AI Coach Responses
The AI Coach generates responses grounded in our on-device eczema knowledge base of published guidelines and peer-reviewed literature. Each response includes a citation. However:
- Responses are generated by a large language model and may contain errors, omissions, or simplifications
- Responses are general educational information, not personalized medical advice
- The App's knowledge base is updated periodically but may not reflect the latest research at any given moment
- Always verify clinically important information with your dermatologist or a primary source
8. Brand Names and Trademarks
References to brand-name drugs, devices, products, or services within the App or this disclaimer are for identification only. Salvora is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or partnered with any pharmaceutical manufacturer, dermatology clinic, or product brand. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
9. Emergency Signs — When to Seek Immediate Care
Seek urgent care or an emergency room if you experience any of the following:
- Fever combined with a spreading red, hot, painful rash
- Pus, yellow crusting, or signs of infection in eczema-affected skin
- Sudden widespread skin pain, blistering, or peeling
- Difficulty breathing, swelling of the face/tongue, or other signs of an allergic reaction
- Eye involvement with vision changes or severe pain
The App is not designed to triage emergencies. If you are unsure, contact your local emergency services (US 911 / UK 999 or 111 / EU 112 / AU 000).
10. Mental Health and Distress
Chronic eczema can be emotionally significant. If you are experiencing severe distress, hopelessness, or thoughts of self-harm, please contact a crisis line immediately:
