SnapFlip: Thrift Profit Scanner ("the App") is developed and published by Valeriy Loveiko. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting your personal information. This privacy policy explains in detail how the App collects, uses, stores, and protects your data.
Summary: The App processes your item photos using secure AI services to provide identification, pricing, and resale recommendations. Photos are sent to our AI provider for analysis and are not stored on their servers after processing. The App also queries public marketplace APIs (such as eBay) to retrieve real-time pricing data. All scan results and your collection data are stored locally on your device. We do not sell, share, or monetize your personal data in any way.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Photos and Camera Data
When you use SnapFlip to scan items, the App accesses your device's camera or photo library to capture or select images. These photos are:
- Used solely for the purpose of identifying the item and estimating its resale value
- Sent securely (via encrypted HTTPS connection) to our AI analysis provider for processing
- Stored locally on your device as part of your saved collection
- Never shared with other users, advertisers, or any third party beyond the AI analysis service
The App does not access photos beyond what you explicitly select or capture within the App. We do not scan your entire photo library, and we do not collect EXIF metadata (location, date, camera model) from your photos.
1.2 Item Analysis Data
When you scan an item, the AI analysis generates the following information:
- Item identification (name, brand, model, category)
- Condition assessment (Excellent, Good, Fair, Poor)
- Flip Score — a profitability rating from 1 to 100
- Buy or Skip recommendation with reasoning
- Estimated resale prices across multiple platforms (eBay, Mercari, Poshmark)
- Sales velocity data (estimated sales per week)
- Demand level assessment (High, Medium, Low)
- AI-generated listing titles and descriptions for each marketplace
This analysis data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to any external server after initial generation.
1.3 Marketplace Pricing Data
To provide accurate real-time pricing, the App queries publicly available marketplace APIs:
- eBay Browse API: Retrieves current active listing prices for items matching your scan. Only the AI-generated search query is sent — no personal data, photos, or identifiers are transmitted to eBay.
- eBay Finding API: Retrieves recently sold item prices and sales frequency data. Again, only the search query is sent.
These API calls are standard public data queries. No eBay account is required, and no user data is shared with eBay.
1.4 Subscription Information
SnapFlip offers optional premium subscriptions managed entirely through Apple's App Store and StoreKit framework. All payment processing, billing, and subscription management are handled by Apple. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information, credit card numbers, or billing addresses. We use RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service, to track subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID generated by the system — no personal information such as name, email, or payment details is shared. 1.5 Information We Do NOT Collect
To be explicit, SnapFlip does not collect:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information
- Your physical location or GPS coordinates
- Device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV) for advertising or tracking purposes
- Browsing history or activity outside the App
- Contacts, calendar, or any other personal data from your device
- Health, fitness, or biometric data
- Social media accounts or login credentials
- Purchase history beyond your App subscription status
2. How We Use Your Information
The information processed by the App is used exclusively for the following purposes:
- Item Identification: Your photos are analyzed by our AI service to identify the brand, model, category, and condition of your item
- Value Estimation: Based on the visual analysis and real-time marketplace data, the App provides estimated resale prices across eBay, Mercari, and Poshmark
- Profitability Assessment: The App calculates a Flip Score (1-100) and provides a Buy or Skip recommendation to help you make informed purchasing decisions
- Sales Velocity: The App estimates how quickly similar items sell on marketplaces, helping you assess demand
- Listing Generation: The AI generates ready-to-post listing titles and descriptions optimized for each marketplace platform
- Profit Calculation: The App calculates estimated net profit after platform fees and shipping costs
- Collection Management: Your scan results are saved locally so you can track potential profit and manage your inventory
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, marketing, or any purpose unrelated to the core functionality of the App.
3. Third-Party Services
3.1 AI Analysis Provider (OpenAI)
SnapFlip uses OpenAI's GPT-4o Vision API to analyze item photos and generate identification results, pricing estimates, and listing content. When you initiate a scan or generate a listing:
- Your photo is transmitted via encrypted HTTPS to OpenAI's API
- OpenAI processes the image and returns analysis results
- According to OpenAI's API data usage policy, API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models and are not retained after processing (zero data retention for API usage)
- No personal identifiers are sent alongside your photos — only the image data and analysis instructions necessary for processing

3.2 eBay APIs
The App queries eBay's publicly available APIs to retrieve real-time pricing and sales data:
- Browse API: Retrieves current active listings and prices. Only a text search query is sent — no photos, no personal data.
- Finding API: Retrieves recently sold items and sales frequency. Only a text search query is sent.
These are read-only, public data queries. No eBay user account is created or accessed. No personal information is shared with eBay. For details, see eBay's Privacy Notice.
3.3 RevenueCat (Subscription Management)
SnapFlip uses RevenueCat to manage subscription status and entitlements. RevenueCat receives:
- An anonymous, system-generated user identifier
- Subscription status (active, expired, trial)
- Product identifiers (which plan was purchased)
RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, photos, scan results, or any other personal information. For details, see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
3.4 Apple Services
The App integrates with Apple's standard services:
- StoreKit 2: For subscription management and payment processing. All financial data is handled by Apple.
- iCloud Backup: If you have iCloud backup enabled on your device, your local App data (including saved scans) may be included in your device backup. This is controlled by your device settings, not by the App.
3.5 No Analytics or Advertising SDKs
SnapFlip does not integrate any analytics platforms (such as Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, or Amplitude), advertising networks, crash reporting services (beyond Apple's built-in crash diagnostics), or any other third-party tracking tools. The App contains no advertisements of any kind.
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 Local Storage
All item scan results, photos, collection data, and generated listings are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data:
- Resides only on your device's local storage
- Is protected by your device's built-in security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, device encryption)
- Is not accessible to the developer, Valeriy Loveiko, or any third party
- Can be deleted at any time by removing individual items within the App or by deleting the App entirely
4.2 Network Security
All network communications between the App and external services (OpenAI, eBay APIs, RevenueCat) are encrypted using industry-standard TLS 1.2+/HTTPS protocols. No data is transmitted in plain text. The App enforces App Transport Security (ATS) as required by Apple.
4.3 API Key Security
API credentials used by the App to communicate with AI and marketplace services are securely embedded within the application binary using XOR encryption. They are not stored in plain text, are not included in the App's source code repository, and are not accessible through standard reverse engineering methods.
5. Data Retention
- Local data (scans, photos, collection, listings): Retained on your device until you delete individual items or uninstall the App
- AI analysis requests (OpenAI): Not retained by OpenAI after processing is complete. OpenAI's API has a zero-retention data policy — inputs and outputs are discarded immediately after the response is generated.
- eBay API queries: Search queries are standard HTTP requests to eBay's public API and are not stored or associated with any user identity on our end
- RevenueCat: Anonymous subscription records are retained per RevenueCat's data retention policy
- Subscription data (Apple): Managed entirely by Apple per their data retention policies
6. Your Rights and Choices
6.1 Camera and Photo Access
You can revoke the App's access to your camera or photo library at any time through your device's Settings → SnapFlip. Without camera access, you can still view your existing collection but will not be able to perform new scans.
6.2 Deleting Your Data
Since all data is stored locally on your device:
- Delete individual items by swiping or using the delete option within the Collection screen
- Delete all data by uninstalling the App from your device
- No request to the developer is necessary, as we do not hold any of your data on external servers
6.3 Subscription Management
You can manage, cancel, or modify your subscription at any time through your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, or through the App Store. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
6.4 Opting Out
Since SnapFlip does not collect personal information, track users, or serve advertisements, there is no opt-out mechanism necessary. You are in full control of your data at all times.
7. Children's Privacy
SnapFlip is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your jurisdiction). The App is rated 4+ on the App Store. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the App does not require account creation and does not collect identifying information, it cannot determine user age. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
8. International Users and Compliance
SnapFlip is available worldwide through the Apple App Store. We are committed to complying with applicable data protection regulations:
- GDPR (European Union / EEA): The App collects minimal data, does not process personal data for profiling or automated decision-making, and does not transfer personal data to third countries for storage. The legal basis for processing is user consent (camera/photo permissions) and legitimate interest (providing the App's core service). Users can exercise their right to erasure by deleting the App.
- UK GDPR: The App's data practices comply with UK data protection requirements. The same rights and protections as EU GDPR apply.
- CCPA / CPRA (California, USA): We do not sell or share personal information. We do not use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents have the right to know what data is collected — this policy provides that disclosure. To exercise your rights, contact us using the information below.
- PIPEDA (Canada): The App's data practices comply with Canadian privacy principles by collecting only what is necessary, obtaining consent through system permission prompts, and ensuring data security.
- LGPD (Brazil): Processing is based on user consent (camera/photo permissions) and is limited to providing the App's core service. Users can request data deletion by uninstalling the App.
- POPIA (South Africa): The App processes minimal personal information with user consent and provides adequate security measures.
- Other jurisdictions: The App's privacy-by-design approach — minimal data collection, local storage, no tracking, no advertising — is designed to comply with privacy regulations worldwide.
9. Disclaimer
SnapFlip provides AI-generated item identification, resale price estimates, profitability scores, and marketplace listing suggestions for informational purposes only. Results should not be considered as certified professional appraisals, guaranteed market values, or financial advice. Prices are based on recent marketplace data and AI analysis, and actual resale values may vary significantly based on condition, market conditions, listing quality, and buyer demand. The developer assumes no liability for purchasing, pricing, or selling decisions made based on the App's output. Always verify current marketplace listings and prices before making buying or selling decisions.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's functionality, third-party services, or applicable regulations. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
