Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 3, 2026

Sakinah ("the App") teaches the meaning of the Arabic you say in salah. It is developed and published by Valerii Loveiko ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the App keeps on your iPhone, what it sends to outside services and why, how long anything is kept, and the choices you have.

Summary: No account, no email, no tracking. Your answers, your name (if you give one), your progress and your conversations stay on your iPhone. Recitations are downloaded from Quran.com's public audio service. Only if you turn on AI answers in Ask, the text of a question goes through our server to an AI service to write an answer from your lesson; our server does not store it. Purchases are handled by Apple and RevenueCat under a random ID. No ads, no analytics, no selling of data.

1. Data stored only on your iPhone

We cannot see this data. Your device backups may include it, depending on your Apple settings. Profile → Your data → “Delete my progress and conversations” removes progress, saved phrases and conversations; deleting the App removes everything.

2. Data sent to outside services

2.1 Recitations

When you listen in a lesson, the App downloads the recitation by Mishary Rashid Alafasy from Quran.com’s public audio service (Quran Foundation: verses.quran.com, download.quranicaudio.com, audio.qurancdn.com). The request contains only the address of the recording; like any web request it reveals your IP address to that service. Nothing about you or your progress is sent.

2.2 Ask — AI answers (optional, only with your consent)

Prepared answers in Ask work without AI and send nothing. Asking your own question needs “AI answers my questions in Ask” on the consent screen, which you can change at any time in Profile → Your data.

When it is on, the App sends to our server (a Cloudflare Worker): the text of your question (up to 500 characters), the lesson and word you asked about, up to four earlier messages of that conversation, a “tell me more” flag, the App version and the App’s random purchase ID (see 2.3). Our server builds the instructions from the lesson’s reviewed material and passes your question, the earlier messages and the lesson material — not your purchase ID, name or progress — to DeepSeek, an AI service operated from the People’s Republic of China. DeepSeek processes the text under its own terms and privacy policy and may keep it as described there.

Our server does not store or log the text of your questions or answers. It logs only the outcome (answered, limited or unavailable).

Questions about the meaning of prayer can reveal religious beliefs. We send them only after your explicit consent and only to write the answer you asked for. If you turn AI answers off, nothing more is sent; your earlier conversation stays on your iPhone.

2.3 Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple; we never see your name or payment details. The App uses RevenueCat to know whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat creates a random ID for your installation of the App and receives purchase information (product, dates, trial and renewal status, Family Sharing) and technical details such as device model, iOS version, App version and region. Our server sends that random ID to RevenueCat to check whether a subscription is active, so AI answers are served to subscribers. Apple and RevenueCat process this data under their own privacy policies.

2.4 Our server

Cloudflare runs our server. To protect it from abuse, it keeps daily request counters keyed by the random purchase ID and by a one-way hash of your IP address, and a short cache of whether a purchase ID has an active subscription (up to 6 hours). Counters are deleted when the day ends; cache entries within about a week after they expire. Cloudflare’s own service logs are kept for a few days. We do not use IP addresses to identify you or your location.

2.5 Cartoons in the children’s mode (YouTube)

The children’s mode can show cartoons by other authors. They are not made or hosted by us: they play in YouTube’s embedded player from the authors’ channels, using the privacy-enhanced address youtube-nocookie.com, and the App keeps no cookies or website data from it. When a cartoon plays, YouTube (Google) receives the request like any web request, including your IP address and device details, under Google’s Privacy Policy. YouTube may show ads and suggest other videos from the same channel; we cannot turn that off. A grown-up opens the cartoons once, and they can be turned off in “Widget and family”.

2.6 Age check for AI answers

Where your Apple Account shares an age range (iOS 26 and later), the App asks Apple one thing when you turn on AI answers: whether you are 16 or older. Apple answers with an age range, never a birth date. The answer stays on your iPhone and is not sent to us or anyone else.

2.7 Write to us

“Write to us” opens your mail app with the App version, iOS version, language and the random ID filled in below a line, so we can help. You can delete those lines before sending. We keep your email only to answer you.

3. Notifications

If you allow them, the daily “minute before prayer” reminder is scheduled on your iPhone at the time you choose. No push server is used, and there are no marketing or payment notifications.

5. What we do not do

6. Your choices and rights

7. Where data is processed

Your lessons and conversations stay on your iPhone. Our server runs on Cloudflare’s global network. RevenueCat processes data in the United States. AI answers are produced by DeepSeek in the People’s Republic of China, only after your explicit consent.

8. Children

Sakinah can be used by people of any age, including children together with a parent. AI answers in Ask are for people aged 16 and over: they are off until you turn them on and confirm you are 16 or older, and where your Apple Account shares an age range, the App checks it first; under 16, AI answers stay off and everything else stays available.

The children’s mode has no AI, no chat, no account, no profile and no notifications, and it collects nothing about the child: no name, age or progress leaves the device (the stars a child earns stay on the iPhone). Leaving the children’s mode, opening the cartoons and purchases are behind a grown-up check. Cartoons play through YouTube as described in 2.5. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, write to us and we will delete it.

9. Security

Connections to our server and to the audio service use HTTPS. AI provider keys live only on our server, never in the App. Requests to our server are checked against the App’s secret and your subscription.

10. Changes and contact

If we change what the App collects, where it goes or how long it is kept, we update this policy and its effective date, and the App asks for your consent again where needed. Contact: loveykovl@gmail.com.
